We have been working tirelessly since our closure to ensure that when we re-open on 4th July, the health and well-being of guests and staff is our priority.

Travellers have been welcomed here for 600 years, and a building has stood on this spot since 1156. In that time The Mermaid has proved ever resilient.
The Mermaid has been assessed by the AA and has received their Covid Confident Accreditation.
We have designed a new experience, for your welfare and the welfare of our staff. This will ensure that everyone is protected. Specific staff will be on duty to meet and greet, and who will be ensuring the guidelines are observed.
There will be an extended regime of cleaning. We ask guests to use the sanitisers we provide and to follow the new requirements.
Parking: Regrettably, we have had to reduce the number of parking spaces we can offer. Staff will no longer be able to move cars. Guests are welcome to drop any luggage off by the archway on Mermaid Street. Public parking is available on Strand Quay and in the Market car park. Please could Blue Badge holders advise us in advance.
Reception: On arrival we have designated specific entry and exit doors into the Mermaid. Overnight guests will check in through the reception door located under our famous archway. Due to space restrictions we are only able to check in one room at a time in reception. Please bear with us during busy times, we can assure you we will be working as quickly as possible and it will be worth the wait!
We are now obliged to ask you when you check in if you have experienced or are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms. We apologise in advance for having to ask this question but it is part of the guidelines we must follow.
The Government Guidance if you should develop Covid 19 symptoms during your stay is:
“If a guest presents themselves with symptoms of COVID-19 or is asymptomatic but declares the need to self-isolate, they should be advised to check out and return home to self-isolate according to current government guidance. If the guest shows acute symptoms, has breathing difficulties or their life is at potential risk, seek medical help immediately.”
Rooms: We have temporarily removed our bathroom complimentary products for hygiene reasons however they are still available on request. Should you need anything please ask reception. During your stay, we would kindly ask guests to use their own bathroom rather that the public restrooms.
Dining: We will require contact details of all guests both dining and drinking. The data will be retained for only 21 days, for the purpose of the NHS Test, Track & Isolate Programme. You will be asked to confirm if you have experienced or are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms.
Diners and drinkers will be restricted to a maximum of 6 in a party, comprising no more than 2 households.
The restaurant, bar and small lounge have been arranged to ensure a 1 metre plus social distance between tables. Our bar menu will be available everyday from 12pm to 2.30pm and 6.30pm to 9.30pm. The restaurant dinner menu is available from 7pm to 9.30pm everyday. Both menus are available for room service if you would prefer. One of our team will take your order and deliver to your room.
Unfortunately (in accordance with the guidelines), we have removed the breakfast buffet. Table service breakfast will still be available in the restaurant. Our full breakfast menu is available for room service. Please leave you order and preferred breakfast time with reception by 10pm the evening prior and we will deliver it to your door.
The Giants Fireplace Bar and patio: We will operate a table service in our bar and on the patios to avoid crowding at the bar. You will be greeted by staff, who will take you to a seat and we will then take your order.
Exiting The Mermaid: The Front Door of The Mermaid will be the point of exit from the building.
